A lawyer and sociologist, Gómez has developed her professional career in the field of strengthening civil society and its contribution to building peace and civil dialogue, with more than 20 years of experience working with NGOs, international organisations and governments both within Spain and abroad.
She has been working in countries with armed conflicts as a legal advisor to the United Nations, recently for more than three years in Guatemala, as well as serving as an elections observer in El Salvador and Bosnia.
She has also worked in international cooperation programs of the European Commission to promote equal opportunities in NGOs in Panama and directly with indigenous movements, in particular for the Continental Network of Indigenous Women.
For over 10 years she has been the director of Spain’s NGO Social Action Platform, an organization designated agency operator of the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area in Spain, and organised the international conference “Together Against Hate Speech and Hate Crime” in the context of actions developed by numerous NGOs in cooperation with the governments of Spain and with the support of the Platform team.
